How to Set Up Facebook Integration

Follow these steps in order. Each step takes about 1–2 minutes. You'll need a Facebook account and a Facebook Business Page.

What you'll get at the end of this setup:
An App ID — a long number that identifies your Meta app
An App Secret — a private password for your Meta app (keep it confidential)
A connected Facebook Business Page so Evolv can publish posts on your behalf
1
Create a Meta Developer App
1a — App Details screen

Go to developers.facebook.com/apps and sign in. Click the blue Create App button. You'll land on "App Details" — give your app any name (e.g. Evolv Social), enter your email, then click Next.

1b — Use Cases screen

On the "Add use cases" screen, on the left side click Others. You'll see a list appear on the right. Select "Create an app without a use case" (the one that says "get an app ID without adding any permissions, features and products"). Click Next.

Note: Do not select "Other (This option is going away soon)" — use the one above it.

1c — Business & Remaining screens

If prompted to select a Business Account, pick yours from the dropdown (or skip if you don't have one set up). Click through the Requirements and Overview screens, then click Create App at the end. Facebook may ask you to confirm your password.

1d — Find your App ID & App Secret

Once the dashboard loads, your App ID is the number displayed at the very top of the page (under your app name). To find your App Secret, click Settings › Basic in the left sidebar — click the Show button next to App Secret to reveal it. Copy both — you'll need them in Step 5.

1e — Add your App Domain (required — skipping this causes errors)

Still on the Settings › Basic page, scroll down until you see the "App Domains" field. Type in your domain exactly as shown below and press Enter:

Click Save Changes at the bottom of the Settings page. Without this step, Facebook will show a "Can't load URL" error when you try to connect.

2
Add Facebook Login as a Use Case
2a — From the App Dashboard

After your app is created you'll land on the Dashboard. It will say "No use cases on this app." — click the green + Add use cases button in the center of the page.

2b — Select the use case

On the use cases screen, make sure Featured or All is selected in the left filter. Select "Authenticate and request data from users with Facebook Login" — this is the first option in the list.

Click Next to continue through any remaining prompts, then click Save.

2c — What you'll see after

The left sidebar will now show a "Use cases" section. Click it, and you'll see your Facebook Login use case listed. This unlocks the OAuth redirect URI settings in the next step.

3
Add the OAuth Redirect URL
3a — Open the use case customization

Back on the Dashboard you'll see a checklist under "App customization and requirements." Click the first row — "Customize the Authenticate and request data from users with Facebook Login use case" (the one with the green checkmark icon). This opens the use case settings.

3b — Add the redirect URL

You'll land on the Settings tab (left sidebar). You'll see a "Redirect URI Validator" section at the top — skip past that, it's only for testing. Scroll down until you see the "Valid OAuth Redirect URIs" text box. Click inside it and paste this URL:

After pasting, scroll to the bottom of the page and click the blue Save changes button.

3c — Add the required permissions (required — skipping causes "Invalid Scopes" error)

While still in the use case customization view, click the Permissions tab at the top of the page. You'll see a list of available permissions. Find and click Add next to each of these three:

After adding all three, click Save changes. These permissions let Evolv see your pages and publish posts on your behalf.

4
Set Permissions to Development Access

While your app is in Development mode, the permissions you just added will automatically be available for testing with your own account — no App Review needed. If you want to manage pages owned by other Facebook users, you would need full Meta App Review, but for posting to your own business page, development access is enough.

To confirm: in the left sidebar go to Use cases and click Customize → Permissions tab. Each of the three permissions should show a green badge or "Added" status.

5
Enter Your Credentials in Evolv

Go to Settings → Social Media in Evolv's sidebar. Paste your App ID and App Secret from Step 1 into the fields there and click Save. Once saved, come back to this page — the Connect Facebook Page button will appear above.

6
Connect Your Facebook Business Page

Click the Connect Facebook Page button that now appears above. A Facebook authorization window will open — log in if prompted, grant the requested permissions, and then select which Business Page you want Evolv to publish to. Your page access token is saved securely and the Status badge above will turn green.
